AF house, located in Paredes, Portugal, is integrated in a well defined rural mesh aligning its design with the existing edifices. The building and the exterior arrangements are displaced on two levels, following the steep slope of the street. The house develops allong two storeys, adapting to the terrain using several interior patios with green spaces and access levels.

M ARQUITETURA’S design is based on PASSIVHAUS principles, defining a sustainable, energy efficient, healthy, comfortable and economically accessible concept. With health and comfort as a basis, this concept contributes to better indoor air quality, greater thermal comfort and optimization of energy performance. Visually the building sets on contemporary architecture crafted around two materials, clad in white dumb brick for the ground floor and white ETICS systems for the 1st floor.

MOQ Engineering designed all specialties projects, taking on the challenge of successfully meeting all the PASSIVHAUS requirements. Engeering-wise, meeting the highest standard of energy efficiency, that characterizes the PASSIVHAUS concept, and achieving a zero energy needs building was the nº1 challenge. BIM technology aided in achieving all results while contributing to the coordination of all projects.
